Eric Kurman Joins Deposition Sciences as CTO

Deposition Sciences (DSI) plans to expand its thin-film deposition product range with the hiring of Eric Kurman, who rejoins the company as chief technology officer after a stint at Northrop Grumman.

Kurman holds an MS in Materials Science from the University of Minnesota and has over 36 years of experience in thin-film and vacuum-coating technology. This depth of expertise and technical knowledge will aid him in developing DSI’s technology roadmap. In particular, he will work to further expand the capabilities of the company’s unique IsoDyn low-pressure chemical vapor deposition and MicroDyn reactive sputtering technologies. This will include improving and expanding these processes to deliver coatings with greater functionality and improved value.

DSI specializes in thin-film optical-coating design and services for both commercial and military sectors. The company's patented MicroDyn reactive sputtering technology yields high performance, highly durable coatings. The advanced, uniform coatings are extremely stable over temperature and humidity changes, meeting the severe abrasion, adhesion, humidity and salt fog tests of Mil-C-675 standards.
