InfraTec Launches DSV-7341 PYRONEER Detector with Integrated TEC for Superior FTIR Measurement Stability

InfraTec GmbH has introduced the DSV-7341, the latest addition to its PYRONEER high-performance detector family. The new DLaTGS-based pyroelectric detector features integrated thermoelectric cooling (TEC) and hermetic sealing, delivering exceptional measurement stability for demanding FTIR spectroscopy applications.

Why DLaTGS — and Why Thermal Management Matters

Deuterated L-alanine doped triglycine sulfate (DLaTGS) achieves up to 3× higher detectivity than lithium tantalate at kHz-range modulation frequencies, making it the preferred pyroelectric material for Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers. However, DLaTGS is highly sensitive to both temperature fluctuations and humidity — challenges that the DSV-7341 addresses through two key design innovations.

Hermetic Sealing for Long-Term Reliability

The DSV-7341 uses a zinc selenide (ZnSe) window soldered into the detector cap, creating a hermetically sealed package that prevents moisture ingress. An anti-reflection coating on the window optimizes mid-IR transmission. This construction ensures long-term measurement accuracy and extends detector service life, even in harsh operating environments.

Integrated TEC and NTC Thermistor for Active Temperature Stabilization

At the core of the DSV-7341's performance is an integrated thermoelectric cooler paired with a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor mounted in close proximity to the DLaTGS pyrochip. The thermistor provides a real-time resistance-based temperature signal accessible via dedicated detector pins, enabling closed-loop feedback to an external TEC controller.

This active stabilization compensates for ambient thermal drift as well as varying radiation levels between background and sample measurements — a critical advantage for both laboratory-grade and field-portable FTIR instruments. The result is significantly improved measurement precision and repeatability.

Optimized Thermal Interface

The DSV-7341's improved packaging enables a simple, reproducible thermal connection to a heat sink, streamlining system-level thermal management for instrument designers. InfraTec is also expanding the PYRONEER family with 2.0 mm DLaTGS pyrochip options to accommodate larger optical beams.

About InfraTec

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Dresden, Germany, InfraTec is a privately held manufacturer of infrared sensor technology and thermal imaging systems. The company's Infrared Sensor Division produces custom pyroelectric detectors — including analog, digital multi-channel (PyrIQ), and high-performance (PYRONEER) configurations — for gas analysis, flame detection, and spectroscopy applications worldwide. InfraTec maintains US sales offices in Florida and Texas.
