A new research document with title ‘Global Optical Coherence Tomography for Ophthalmology Market 2018-2022’ covering detailed analysis, Competitive landscape, forecast and strategies. The study covers geographic analysis that includes regions like Americas, APAC, EMEA and important players/vendors such as NIDEK, Optovue, TOPCONetc. The report will help user gain market insights, future trends and growth prospects for forecast period of 2018-2022.

OCT for ophthalmology helps to diagnose various ophthalmic diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataract. Spectral-domain technology, swept-source technology, and full-field technology are some of the technologies that are used in the OCT products available in the market.

HTF’s analysts forecast the global optical coherence tomography for ophthalmology market to grow at a CAGR of 6.85% during the period 2018-2022.

HTF recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global optical coherence tomography for ophthalmology market: Carl Zeiss Meditec, Danaher, Heidelberg Engineering, NIDEK, Optovue, and TOPCON.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from HTF’s team said: “One trend in the market is growing focus toward adaptive optics. Corrective optics techniques like adaptive optics are combined with OCT to improve the transverse resolution of the imaging system. Also, it measures the monochromatic aberrations, which occur in eyes and eventually correct them with the help of sensing of wavefronts and deformable mirrors.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is increasing incidences of ocular diseases. There is an increasing incidence of ocular diseases such as diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataract, corneal scarring, AMD, retinitis, refractive error, keratitis, and blepharitis, which is significantly driving the sales of OCT devices. According to the CDC, in September 2015, diabetic retinopathy and AMD were the major age-related eye diseases in the US. In 2016, according to the CDC, AMD is a leading cause of vision loss and blindness for individuals in the US aged above 65 years.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is high cost associated with OCT. The high price of OCT system and excessive cost associated with installation are increasing the cost burden for the end-users. The end-users such as hospitals and clinics, ASCs, and physicians’ offices have a limited budget range. Owing to the high cost of OCT systems and installation cost, some end-users are not able to accommodate in their budget allocation, which is affecting the adoption.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
