MKS Instruments, Inc. announces the release of a new series of Newport fused silica lenses and optical windows with anti-reflection nano-textured surfaces. The series features plano-convex and plano-concave lenses with a diameter of 12.7 mm as well as optical windows with diameters of 12.7 mm and 25.4 mm.
A nanostructure pattern is etched directly on the surface of the high-purity fused silica to produce a high quality anti-reflection effect with reflection loss down to 0.1 percent. Since this manufacturing process uses no thin film materials, there is no added absorption or surface heating and the optics have a very high damage threshold limit. In addition, thermal lensing is reduced, resulting in improved beam parameters and long-term stability.
The anti-reflection nano-textures inherently perform over unprecedented bandwidths allowing coverage of multiple laser wavelengths in a single optic. Newport offers two options including the “S” type AR textures specified as R<0.1% from 266nm-400nm, R<0.3% 450-700nm, or, “L” type AR textures R<0.1% 500-900nm, R<0.2% 950-1100nm.
