Newport Corporation, a worldwide provider of photonic solutions, is introducing the 8301-UHV-NM Picomotor Actuator. The new ½-inch travel Picomotor actuator is made from non-magnetic materials and suited for applications requiring low magnetic susceptibility and permeability. The 8301-UHV-NM also uses Kapton wiring for harsh radiation environments and is rated for UHV applications down to 10-9 torr.
Key applications for the non-magnetic, high-precision actuator include electron beam applications, including e-beam lithography and particle accelerators, as well as scientific MRI scanning and other medical applications. It features a load capacity of 22N and a positioning resolution below <30 nm. Like all Newport Picomotor actuators, the 8301-UHV-NM will only move when voltage is applied to the piezo. When no power is applied, the actuator will hold its position, giving “set and forget” stability.
