Hamamatsu Photonics has developed one of the world’s smallest “fingertip-size” micro-spectrometers: a compact, lightweight device that, according to Hamamatsu’s research, provides nearly the same performance as Hamamatsu’s MS series mini-spectrometer while being roughly half its size. The new micro-spectrometer offers measurements in the visible wavelength range and can be used for applications such as colour sensing in printing machines and light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, point-of-care testing connected to smart phones and other types of portable measurement. Samples of the C12666MA will be available to manufacturers from 25 December 2013.
The C12666MA micro-spectrometer is being shown at Photon Fair 2013, the company’s new technology exhibition currently being held at the Act City Hamamatsu Convention Centre in Hamamatsu, Japan.
