Excelitas Technologies, a global provider of customised optoelectronic solutions, announces new products: the SPCM-AQRH, an enhanced addition to its single photon counting module (SPCM) suite of products designed to provide customers with a high level of photon detection efficiency; and the C360659-UV-1, a new short wavelength enhanced, avalanche photo diodes (APD) preamplifier module specifically designed for low-level visible light detection.
• SPCM-AQRH: Built upon Excelitas’ SLiK Single Photon Avalanche Diode, these enhanced modules provide linearity and dynamic range. Specifically designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in life science and research applications, the SPCM-AQRH with a fibre-coupling option and the new timing optimised SPCM-AQRH-TR deliver on the scientific community’s need for high-performing photon counting solutions.
The enhanced SPCM-AQRH offers a dynamic range and detects single photons over the wavelength range of 400 nanometres (nm) to 1060nm. Leveraging a unique silicon avalanche photodiode, it achieves a peak photon detection efficiency of more than 70% (700nm) over a 180 micrometre (µm) diameter active area for efficiency. The photodiode is both thermoelectrically cooled and temperature-controlled, ensuring stabilised performance despite fluctuating ambient temperatures.
The new SPCM-AQRH-TR module is designed to meet the needs of the time-correlated single photon counting market and is intended for highly focused applications, such as fluorescence lifetime measurements and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy. The AQRH-TR will offer an optimised timing resolution of less than 250 picoseconds (ps).
• C360659-UV-1: This APD preamplifier module offers high responsivity at 500nm with a low noise floor. It performs well in demanding applications, such as fluorescence detection, high energy physics, safety radiation detection, optical tomography and environmental monitoring.
Both new products are on display, along with Excelitas’s other detection and high performance optoelectronic solutions, at Photonics West 2013 currently running at the Moscone Centre (booth #4421) in San Francisco, California (US).
