Point Grey Gigabit POE Interface Card 2 port

Point Grey, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance digital cameras, announced the addition of a new Gigabit-Ethernet (GigE) Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) network interface card (NIC) to its GigE cameras and accessories.

The new two-port GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 NIC is designed and manufactured by Point Grey at the company’s headquarters in Richmond, British Columbia (Canada). Each port provides up to 15.4 watts (W) of power and has a dedicated Intel 82574L Gigabit Ethernet Controller that supports jumbo packets and a maximum GigE bandwidth of 120 megabytes per second (MB/s). Combined bandwidth of 240MB/s is handled using the card’s PCI Express Gen2 x1 interface, the most commonly available interface on modern PC motherboards, and the low-profile board design makes the GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 suitable for 1U, 2U and other small form-factor enclosures. The cost-effective design allows customers to use a single 2-port GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 card to replace multiple GigE NICs and PoE injectors and achieve savings up to 60% (based on pricing for two ACC-01-1100 and two ACC-01-9012, available through the website.

The GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 NIC is list-priced at $120 USD/€96 EUR and is available now from Point Grey, its network of distributors and the online store (for North American, Australian, and EU customers).

Caption: Point Grey’s FlyCapture SDK includes a proprietary low-level GigE image filter driver that can be installed on the GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 and can be used to reduce GigE packet load on the CPU by filtering out GigE Vision stream protocol (GVSP) packets. The GIGE-PCIE2-2P02 is compatible with all Point Grey Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet cameras, as well as third-party devices, and presents a significant cost advantage over competing two-port NICs.
