Rethink Robotics has been named a 2013 Award Finalist by the Edison Awards. The company’s robot Baxter is a finalist in the "living, working and learning environments" category, one of 12 categories honoured by the Edison Awards. The robot comes with sensors and related software so that it can "see" and interact with its environment.

The Edison Awards symbolise the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Edison, inspiring creative minds to remain in the forefront of innovation, creativity and ingenuity. The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards is judged by more than 3000 senior business executives and academics from across the US, whose votes acknowledge the finalists’ success in meeting the award criteria of "concept, value, delivery and impact."
