Horiba Scientific, a global specialist in Raman systems and solutions, is offering new Silver TERS probes to maximize nanoRaman TERS systems. These probes join Horiba’s other TERS probes, which include gold-coated AFM-TERS tips and gold STM-TERS tips.
The TERS probes enable all modes of TERS operation: Top, side and bottom optical access. Made of bulk noble metal (STM tips) or with a multilayer coating on AFM tips, the TERS probes are delivered in a protective package to maximize shelf-life. Used in conjunction with Horiba’s nanoRaman systems, the Omni TERS probes are designed to produce Raman signal enhancement at 633/638 nm on a reliable test sample. The combination of Horiba's nanoRaman system with the new Silver Omni TERS probes provides a TERS solution with 10 nm resolution and below.
Tests have shown that the probes can reach >40 times improved contrast (tip down, near-field Raman), versus tip up (far-field Raman), leading to an enhancement factor (EF) up to 106 with the OMNI Silver TERS probes.
The company says it has been able to prove in out-of-lab environments that their AFM solution lessens acquisition time, while still offering the highest resolution.
Their service team assists and supports the installation and start-up phase of an AFM Raman system on site, to facilitate efficient operation of the TERS nanoRaman system. Horiba’s service technician fine-tunes the instrument, provides detailed product training, and gives a complete step-by-step procedure to obtain optimal TERS imaging.
