Two Megapixel Resolution for VC Z Smart Cameras With Linux OS

Vision Components is expanding its portfolio of real-time-capable ARM-based smart cameras running the VC Linux operating system by adding VC Z 0015 models featuring 2 Megapixel CMOS sensors.

This new high-performance sensor captures up to 50 frames per second in full resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels) and supports exposure times of 15 µs with a high-speed shutter as well as up to 1.28 s with a low-speed shutter. The high processing speed of VC Z 0015 Smart Cameras is ensured by their dual-core Xilinx Zynq ARM processor with two Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 866 Mhz.

The cameras can be supplied with the field-tested "nano" housing measuring merely 80 x 45 x 20 mm or as VC pro Z in an IP67-rated protective housing, which is almost as compact at just 88 mm in length and comes with an optional integrated autofocus lens and LED illumination.

The Z Board cameras are also available as a solution for machine or robot integration. These can be fitted with an on-board sensor, a single remote head or two remote sensors, e.g., to enable stereo-vision applications, according to the manufacturer.
