Parts for 8 visors completing manufacture

PowerPhotonic, located in Dalgety Bay (Fife, Scotland), a manufacturer of high precision optical components, has donated equipment, time and materials for the production of PPE face visors for the NHS and Care Homes.

Its widely reported that there is a shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for those on the front line caring for people with COVID-19. One of the pieces of PPE in short supply are face visors. These prevent droplets – which may contain the COVID-19 virus – from landing on the wearer’s face when a patient coughs or sneezes.

At the suggestion of Chief Engineer Chris Courtney, PowerPhotonic has made available equipment, £1000 of cash for supplies, and some of Chris’s time. This has enabled production of PPE face visors to a design from 3DCrowd.uk  With over 600 visors made by Chris, it will not be long until more than 1000 are made and shipped.

3DCrowd.uk also act as the logistics provider; receiving orders from the NHS and Care Homes and directing individual manufacturers as to fulfil and ship those orders. Visors go to local institutions in Fife, Tayside, Angus and nationally. This critical COVID-19 protection equipment has featured in BBC reporting.

PowerPhotonic will continue to fund the ongoing manufacture of face visors with further donations of cash and time.
