Cailabs

Cailabs, a laser beam shaping firm, and Precitec, a provider of 3D metrology and laser technology solutions, have announced their partnership to develop tailored solutions for the emobility market.

The partnership between the two companies has been a center of innovation and excellence since its inception in 2018 as part of the Horizon 2020 project CUSTODIAN. The foundation of this collaboration is the integration of Cailabs’ advanced beam shaping modules into Precitec’s laser beam welding heads.

This integration is specifically designed to meet the growing demands of the e-mobility market, offering high precision and efficiency in laser welding. The challenges of laser welding in e-mobility, particularly with reflective and thermally conductive materials such as copper and aluminum, are addressed by Cailabs’ beam shaping technology.

This improves the interaction of the laser with these materials, ensures optimum energy absorption and improved welding quality. Integration with Precitec’s advanced laser welding heads not only overcomes traditional welding limitations, but also opens up new possibilities for advanced manufacturing techniques in the growing e-mobility sector.

“The collaboration between Cailabs and Precitec is a testament to our commitment to driving innovation in laser technology,” said Jean-François Morizur, CEO of Cailabs, “and this new product is just the beginning.”

Klaus Löffler, Managing Director of Precitec added, “The integration of Cailabs' beam shaping expertise into our welding systems opens up new possibilities for e-mobility manufacturers worldwide in terms of precision and efficiency in laser welding.”
