Moore Nanotechnology Systems, LLC, a global supplier of ultra-precision machining systems, has released a next generation NanoCAM4 Ultra-Precision CAM programming software with new capabilities.
Nanotech’s latest product release has been years in the making and is a welcome addition to the diamond turning industry. Incredibly comprehensive yet easy to use, NanoCAM4 (N4) brings an accuracy & programming functionality that had been absent from the ultra-precision optical market. All prior CAM packages, such as Nanotech’s previous NanoCAM3D Freeform Software, have been assisting technicians for many years. While they are viewed as “acceptable” for various programming needs, they all have inherent weaknesses often requiring intervention by a third party software to complete the task. In other cases, they simply do not have the functionality for programming many of the diverse optical machining configurations being developed today.
NanoCAM4 shares nothing in common with its predecessor of the similar name. It is a completely new superior CAM package from Nanotech developed with the goal of being the only ultra-precision programming software technicians will ever need. N4 also enables improved form accuracies and direct importing / exporting of STEP, IGES or Point Clouds. When doing so, N4 imports the actual Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) raw data from 3D CAD models and eliminates the need of conversion to a point cloud first. In addition, 3D geometric models generated within N4, such as diamond tooling, also utilize NURBS data extracted from Nanotech’s own proprietary algorithms for exact absolute accuracies. The combined result is smooth form / surface definitions beyond anything you have experienced before. Capable of generating a complete array of programs for diamond turning, micro-milling, ruling, rastering, diffractive / fresnel, optical grinding and form correction, N4 is available in four different base modules.
The list of value-added advancements contained within the N4 CAM package is extensive.
- Color coded representations of exact acceleration and velocity values at every point on the surface enable up front program adjustments that result in reduced machine setup time and the most precise form accuracies.
- Tool path and machine simulations feature realistic 3D solid models, including any imported fixturing, to visually test and analyze tool geometries, programs and overall setup prior to taking a chip.
- An integrated Oscillating X Dseg advanced programming capability for cell phone camera mold pin manufacturers.
Looking beyond the software itself, Nanotech has always recognized the ultimate important of post sales customer support for all their products. A dedicated team of N4 Software Engineers has been established to provide the best service & support Nanotech’s customers have come to rely on. They are the minds behind NanoCAM4 and through continuous innovation, product updates and advancements, ensure that this software remains on the cutting edge.
Moore Nanotechnology Systems, LLC is a global supplier of ultra-precision machining systems for single point diamond turning, micro-milling, micro-grinding, and glass press molding. With machine installations in 35 different countries, Nanotech’s 2 - 5 axes symmetric and freeform optical machining systems offer the flexibility and reliability to cover R&D or production needs in a broad range of current and emerging markets. All systems achieve nanometer level surface finishes directly off the machine, most often eliminating the need for secondary post-polishing operations, while at the same time maintain sub-micron form accuracies.
