FLIR Systems announced today the availability of the radiometric FLIR Lepton thermal imaging camera to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) through FLIR distributors. The FLIR Lepton now offers OEMs a thermal camera core with the ability to capture accurate, calibrated temperature data from a distance to help improve safety and productivity in uses such as building maintenance, automation, automotive repair, and aerial observation with UAVs.
Originally launched in 2014, the Lepton was the first longwave infrared (LWIR) thermal camera small enough to integrate into devices like smartphones. Smaller than a dime and ten times less expensive than traditional IR cameras, the radiometric Lepton allows OEMs to bring thermal vision and radiometry to smartphones, tablets, diagnostic tools, automobiles, toys, building controls, process equipment, security systems, machine vision systems, and advanced gaming devices.
