Smart Fibres Ltd., a global provider of fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensor and interrogator products announced today the addition of a high-speed scanning capability to its SmartScan interrogator portfolio.
Based on the existing SmartScan technology, the new high speed SmartScan interrogator combines high acquisition rates, of up to 77 kHz, with extraordinary resolution providing precise data in highly dynamic environments, the company reports. Features of the Smart Scan high speed interrogator include:
- High-resolution measurements at high sample rates: 1.7 pm at 77 kHz
- User-selectable sample rates from 25 to 77 kHz.
- Continuous logging for impact detection in critical structures, e.g., airframe monitoring for bird strike and foreign object damage.
Practical FBG strain measurement can be performed during ballistic, explosive and impact testing. Enables the development and application of new FBG transducers for dynamic measurements: force sensors for impact events, high-frequency accelerometers and acoustic sensors. Proven, rugged SmartScan platform, available with ATEX approval, opens up new potential applications in demanding environments.
