
Newport Corporation, a specialist in high-precision motion and photonics solutions, has introduced the HXP100P hexapod. The new six degrees of freedom (DOF) positioner from Newport is a high-precision, high-speed version of the HXP100 hexapod. With a centred load capacity of 6 kilogram (kg), the HXP100P is a solution for complex motion applications such as fibre alignment and precision optics assembly that demand excellent repeatability in up to six independent axes.
The HXP100P is designed to work with Newport’s dedicated HXP100P-ELEC controller. Contrary to highly priced and complex competitive alternatives, Newport hexapods are affordable and easy to use. Complex motion tasks can be performed with user-defined virtual rotation points, multiple digital and analogue inputs/outputs (I/O) and a command set supported by numerous driver libraries.
Like all Newport hexapods, the HXP100P features two programmable pivot points and Newport’s proprietary RightPath trajectory control that facilitates straight line and arc motion in the user-defined coordinates. In addition to trajectory control, RightPath can also prevent collisions in close proximity alignments.
