Moxa, a manufacturer of communications equipment for harsh environments, has unveiled the new flagship of its IP network video surveillance family: the VPort 66-2MP at the International Security Conference & Exposition (ISC West) in Las Vegas, Nevada (US). The 1080-p PTZ dome camera is scheduled for production by 1 July and has been specifically designed for mission-critical video surveillance applications in industries such as transportation, oil and gas, energy, and factory automation, as well as in challenging outdoor locations. Moxa presented a fully operational unit at the show with final technical specs.
According to the manufacturer, the industrial-grade VPort 66-2MP was developed with the goal of robust engineering in mind and will feature a vandal-proof design, along with IP66 rain and dust protection, an operating temperature of -40 to 204 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 96 degrees Celsius), and a NEMA 4X type form factor. Unlike standard cameras, the VPort 66-2MP will be able to operate outdoors without requiring an external housing and blower, reducing the potential points of failure while saving both power and space.
To provide situational awareness of a large area, the VPort 66-2MP camera features 360 degrees endless PAN, enabling continuous following of a subject, TILT (-6 to 96 degrees), and up to 30x optical zoom to capture the smallest of details, such as a license plate. The camera's two-megapixel sensor delivers an HDTV 1080p video resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps, color fidelity and a 16:9 widescreen format. Multiple, individually configurable H.264 and MJPEG videos can be streamed simultaneously, or a single stream can be deployed to monitor at 1960 x 1080 resolution at 60 fps. Image quality is further enhanced by Moxa's Image Stabilizing and Digital Noise Reduction technology.
