MKS Instruments has released the New Focus 8535-CL Closed-loop Picolis Linear Stage. The new integrated stage features Newport’s Picomotor technology and is equipped with a quasi-absolute encoder for quick absolute positioning upon startup. Applications for the closed-loop Picolis linear stages include advanced scientific and industrial applications in metrology, microscopy, nano-technology, material science, biotechnology and more.
The 8535-CL linear stage features a travel range of 15 mm, with a minimum incremental motion capability of < 30 nm. In closed loop operation, positioning repeatability of ±1 µm can be achieved.
The company says that the quasi-absolute encoder implemented into the Picolis platform is a cost-effective solution that combines the benefits of small incremental encoders with the ability to acquire absolute position on power-up with minimal movement.
