Teledyne Dalsa Xineos X-Ray Flat Detector

Teledyne Dalsa, a Teledyne Technologies company and specialist in digital X-ray image sensing technology, will introduce four dynamic detectors at the RSNA 2014 Technical Exhibition, 30 November to 4 December at McCormick Place (south hall, booth A4115) in Chicago, Illinois (US).

The latest products with fields of view of 20 centimetres (cm) × 22cm, 22cm × 22cm and 30cm × 30cm, together with earlier models with dimensions of 13cm × 13cm and 15cm x 15cm, complete the Xineos family of real-time, low-dose CMOS flat X-ray detectors. Xineos detectors are targeted at interventional procedures and are positioned to replace the current imaging technology of thin-film transistor (TFT) flat detectors and image intensifiers up to 12 inches in size. The entire product line will be on display at RSNA 2014.

The new Xineos models, including the 2222HS, 3030HS, 2022HR and 3030HR, utilise Teledyne Dalsa’s 6th generation proprietary radiation-hard CMOS active pixel design and are flat detectors that present the form-factor advantages of traditional amorphous silicon (a-Si) flat panels. Xineos detectors offer a switchable saturation dose, low dissipation power and built-in gain, offset and defect correction. According to the company, Xineos detectors are versatile, reliable and easy to integrate.

The high-speed Xineos-HS detectors, featuring a 152 micrometre (μm) pixel size, are designed to meet the needs of both surgical and cardio-vascular procedures by combining dynamic range with signal-to-noise performance and real-time imaging at low exposure levels in full resolution up to 90 frames per second (fps). In addition, the detectors with square field-of-view of 22×22cm2 are one of the largest commercially available 9-inch flat detectors to benefit spinal surgery, according to the company.

Xineos-HR is the high-resolution line of detectors, featuring a pixel size of 99 micrometres (μm), designed to meet the versatile needs of clinical, scientific and industrial applications. These detectors are capable of 30fps real-time imaging at full resolution of up to 5 megapixels (MP) or 9MP for the 9-inch or 12-inch detector sizes, respectively. Flexible zoom modes can be used to capture regions-of-interest at 120fps or more.

Teledyne DALSA will exhibit the following CMOS and CCD X-Ray detectors:

• Xineos-1313 and Xineos CMOS flat detectors deliver low-dose diagnostic image quality at full resolution and in real-time. There are two versions: high dynamic range and high sensitivity.

Xineos-1515 features a nearly seamless switchable saturation dose for combining high dynamic range and high sensitivity in a single device.

Argus is a scanning CCD-TDI X-Ray detector platform for mammography, general radiography and dental panoramic and cephalometry applications.

Helios is optimised for mobile applications. Helios features a large CMOS active imaging area of 20 x 25 square centimetres (cm2), which is about 8 inches × 10 inches, while maintaining image resolution with a pixel size of only 96μm.

Shad-o-Box 6K HS is a high-resolution CMOS detector with 50μm pixel pitch and dimensions of 11cm × 14cm targeted at biopsy analysis and other scientific and industrial applications.

Rad-icon 1520 is a new high-resolution large area CMOS detector featuring high-speed low-dose almost seamless switchable saturation dose and 99μm pixel in 15×20cm dimensions.
