Edinburgh Instruments FS5 Fluorescence Spectrometer

Edinburgh Instruments launched a new fluorescence spectrometer, the FS5, a fully integrated steady-state spectrometer with single-photon sensitivity, designed for the research and analytical market. The FS5 has a number of features that are not typical in its class of fluorescence spectrometers. These features include single-photon sensitivity throughout the specified spectral range; data-acquisition speed; comprehensive software; and a range of plug-and-play sample cassette options.

In addition to the standard version, the FS5 has a number of options, including:

• FS5-NIR (near-infrared) with an extended wavelength coverage to 1000 nanometres (nm) while maintaining the specified sensitivity in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible spectral range

• FS5-MCS (microseconds), a phosphorescence lifetime option with a lifetime range of microseconds to seconds

• FS5-TCSPC (Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting), a fully integrated lifetime option for the measurement of fluorescence lifetimes from picoseconds (ps) to microseconds

• FS5-POL (polarisers) with fully automated polarisers in excitation and emission

• Two further advanced options are available with an extended wavelength range to 1650nm and a time resolution down to 50ps.

The FS5 is being launched at the 15th Beijing Conference and Exhibition on Instrumental Analysis (BCEIA 2013) on 23-26 October at the booth of Edinburgh Instruments’ sister company, Techcomp (China), at the Beijing Exhibition Centre (booth 2093) in Beijing, China.
